For Anyone Navigating Church Hurt…

If you’ve had tough experiences with the church, I want to share a few things that have been meaningful to me lately, as well as one upcoming event I’m excited about.

A Church Called Tov: Forming a Goodness Culture That Resists Abuses of Power and Promotes Healing
I’m currently reading A Church Called Tov by Scot McKnight and Laura Barringer. This book has been incredibly healing. It explores how churches can become places of goodness, even after harm. Scot McKnight was one of my seminary professors, and his work has profoundly shaped how I think about the church. I highly recommend checking it out—it's available on Amazon.

A Must-Listen Podcast Episode
I recently listened to a thought-provoking podcast episode featuring Julie Roys and Scot McKnight. Their conversation offers valuable insights, especially about the flawed perspectives people often have toward “deconstructing Christians”.

Scot and Julie dive into whether deconstruction is a problem or perhaps even a prophetic voice within the church. Scot also shares some fascinating statistics that might surprise you. You can listen to the episode here.

Restore 2025 Conference in Phoenix
This conference focuses on creating spaces for healing and reflection, and Scot McKnight will be one of the speakers. I’m hoping to attend for the first time. If you’re interested, you can find all the details here.

I know church hurt can feel isolating, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Let’s continue leaning into hope, healing, and a better vision for what Christian community can be.
