Searching for Faith, Facing Rejection, Finding Healing

If you are pursuing faith, it means you are pursuing something bigger than yourself. This brings adventure, the unknown, and risk.

One effect of pursuing faith...it will cost you relationally. You will be rejected.

You will encounter in-your-face type of rejection. You will also encounter passive rejection in the form of relational distancing. People will just slowly start to loosen their contact and association with you.

I've noticed, as I've become closer with Christ, many evangelical friends and connections have distanced themselves from me in both ways. For the past 10 years, my search for a faith came with a lot of rejection.

As this rejection mounts, you'll need to seek healing of these wounds or else your adventure, your journey and search for a deeper faith, will come to halt.

Rejections will come.

Restoration also needs to be part of your path.

Your healing is a glass ceiling and you should try everything that comes within your grasp to break through that.

  • counseling

  • EMDR

  • medicine

  • exercise

  • nature

  • fasting

  • prayer

  • community

  • confession

  • silence

  • solitude

  • sabbath

  • support groups

I would never recommend something I haven't tried. I've done all of the above and every one of them produced another crack in that glass ceiling and helped restore my soul.

But if I were going to recommend where to start, I would start with Prayer.
